U.S. Gets Camcording Penalties, Provisions On Similarly Trademarked Goods In TPP

The purported final text of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) intellectual property (IP) chapter published last week by Wikileaks reveals that countries have agreed to U.S. demands that they provide criminal penalties on video recording in movie theaters and provide broad discretion for customs authorities to seize allegedly counterfeit goods at the border. TPP members will also be required to provide criminal penalties for the theft of trade secrets, but they will not be required to provide new protections for whistleblowers...
