South Korea lifts poultry ban; Perdue hopes 'first step' leads to fewer import restrictions due to avian flu

South Korea has lifted a ban on imports of U.S. poultry and poultry products, including fresh eggs, the Agriculture Department announced on Thursday. The move followed an Aug. 11 U.S. notification to the World Organization for Animal Health “that it is now free of HPAI,” or avian influenza, USDA said in a statement.
