Senate Finance member Tina Smith won’t seek re-election in 2026

Sen. Tina Smith (D-MN), who joined the Senate Finance Committee this Congress, announced on Thursday that she will not seek re-election in 2026. “This decision is not political, it is entirely personal,” she said on social media and in an op-ed for the Minnesota Star Tribune.
