As Congress returned from its holiday hiatus, lawmakers engaged on trade issues began weighing in with versions of 2022 wish lists: heightened administration consideration of free trade agreements; stepped-up enforcement of U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement provisions; pumped-up home-grown commitments to rare-earth materials to lessen dependence on China; action to challenge India’s rice and wheat subsidies; and support for leveraging trade policy to support climate-change mitigation strategies.
