At the WTO, India, Japan, UK propose retaliation for U.S. steel, aluminum duties
India, Japan and the United Kingdom have proposed increasing tariffs on certain U.S. products equivalent to the Trump administration’s duties on steel and aluminum, which the three countries consider “safeguard” measures, according to new World Trade Organization notifications. The moves are largely procedural and do not indicate that any of the three plans to enact the tariff increases immediately.
