U.S.-proposed ‘Chips 4 Alliance’ could coordinate industrial policy, export controls
The U.S. hopes to improve coordination in the semiconductor industry via the creation of the “Chips 4 Alliance” featuring chip-making stalwarts Japan, South Korea and Taiwan, a forum that could be used to coordinate manufacturing incentive programs -- and avoid a subsidies race to the bottom -- as well as export control policies, according to semiconductor industry analysts.
