Japan, U.S. will discuss frozen beef safeguard at next bilateral talk

According to a Reuters report, Japan’s Finance Minister Taro Aso said this week that the frozen beef safeguard triggered Aug. 1 will be a topic of discussion when he meets with Vice President Mike Pence for the next round of the bilateral Economic Dialogue. The safeguard bumps Japan’s tariff on U.S. frozen beef from 38.5 percent to 50 percent.
