USTR announces new, beefed-up GSP enforcement scheme

Beneficiaries of the Generalized System of Preferences trade program will soon face more scrutiny from the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative for their compliance with GSP eligibility criteria, USTR announced today. The new process will involve a triennial assessment by USTR and other agencies of each GSP beneficiary country’s compliance with the statutory eligibility criteria of the program.
