U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer is seeking changes to the de minimis levels agreed to in the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement, sources tell Inside U.S. Trade, eyeing U.S. implementing legislation as a pathway to a more reciprocal arrangement with both countries. USTR continues to push for Canada and Mexico to come closer to the $800 de minimis threshold enshrined in the 2015 Trade Facilitation and Trade Enforcement Act, those sources said.
