Japan breaks with White House on key details of new trade deal

The Japanese government is describing several key provisions in its new trade deal with the U.S. much more narrowly than the White House has, in particular the timeline for lowering tariffs on its exports and a promise of $550 billion of investment in U.S. operations that Japan says will be at least partly made up of loan guarantees rather than new spending.
