House Democrats urge Tai to weigh ‘adverse’ effects of broadening TRIPS waiver

A World Trade Organization decision on intellectual property rights for COVID-19 vaccines could have “unintended adverse consequences” if extended to tests and treatments, according to a group of House Democrats. The 14 lawmakers are calling on U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai to consider such risks as WTO members hash out whether and how to expand the decision.
