EU to propose new tariffs on Russian oil as it seeks to diversify

The European Commission on Wednesday announced it would propose new tariffs on Russian oil amid growing calls from President Trump for the bloc to cut all imports of Russian energy products in an attempt to pressure Moscow to end the war in Ukraine. The EU banned Russian crude oil imports in 2022, but Slovakia, Hungary and Czechia were granted exemptions.
