Biden moves to end AGOA benefits for Uganda, three others
President Biden on Monday announced his intent to terminate African Growth and Opportunity Act trade preferences for Uganda, the Central African Republic, Niger and Gabon, saying the countries had failed to address U.S. concerns about their non-compliance with the program’s eligibility requirements. In an Oct. 30 letter to the speaker of the House and the president of the Senate, Biden said the governments of Uganda and the Central African Republic had engaged in “gross violations of internationally recognized human rights.”...
