Biden issues executive order to limit sales of U.S. data to foreign adversaries

President Biden on Wednesday will issue an executive order crafted to restrict the bulk sale of Americans’ personal data to countries of concern and introduce safeguards to limit those countries’ access to other types of sensitive data. The executive order directs the Justice Department to prevent the large-scale transfer of genomic, biometric, health, geolocation and financial data, as well as other personally identifiable data, to proposed countries of concern – China, Russia, North Korea, Iran, Cuba, and Venezuela.
