In Meeting With U.S. Lawmakers, Taiwan Reiterates Desire To Join TPP

Taiwan officials told two U.S. lawmakers this week that the country still hopes to join the Trans-Pacific Partnership. Reps. Robert Pittenger (R-NC) and Randy Hultgren (R-IL) were in Taiwan as part of a five-day visit focused on U.S.-Taiwan relations, trade and other issues. Pittenger is a member of the Financial Services monetary policy and trade subcommittee; Hultgren serves on the Agriculture Committee. Both are members of the Taiwan Caucus.
