European Parliament's AGRI Committee Rejects GMO Opt-Out Proposal

The European Parliament's Agriculture and Rural Development (AGRI) Committee on Thursday (Sept. 3) overwhelmingly dismissed the European Commission's proposal to allow member states to implement national bans or restrictions on the imports of genetically modified organisms (GMOs). The AGRI committee voted 28-8 in favor of an opinion rejecting the commission proposal.
