De Mateo Takes Over WTO General Council As Part Of Annual Reshuffle

Fernando De Mateo of Mexico is taking the helm of the World Trade Organization's General Council this year, the WTO has announced, as part of an annual reshuffle of the global trade institution's leaders. De Mateo was formerly chairman of the Dispute Settlement Body (DSB), a slot that will now be filled by Norway's Harald Neple, according to the WTO's Feb. 20 announcement.
