European Union Chief negotiator Ignacio Garcia Bercero on Monday (May 2) rejected as unacceptable U.S. proposals in the negotiations for a Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) that would seek to speed up the approval process for biotechnology and pressure the EU to accept trace elements of unauthorized biotechnology traits in otherwise approved shipments to avoid “unnecessary” trade disruptions.
