Treasury proposes CFIUS expansion to cover land near military bases
The Treasury Department on Monday proposed expanding the jurisdiction of the Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S. to cover real estate transactions near military installations. CFIUS reviews inbound foreign investment for national security risks, offers parties recommendations to mitigate those risks and can recommend to the president that a transaction be blocked if it does not believe the risks have been sufficiently addressed.
