Senate passes Cornyn-Casey outbound investment bill
The Senate on Tuesday approved a bipartisan proposal for an outbound investment notification mechanism and another crafted to prevent China and others from acquiring U.S. farmland. Both proposals were advanced as amendments to the Senate’s version of the National Defense Authorization Act. The “ Outbound Investment Transparency Act ,” co-sponsored by Senate Finance Committee members Bob Casey (D-PA) and John Cornyn (R-TX), would require notification for covered outbound investments.
