Sens. Cantwell, Grassley introduce bill to limit presidential trade powers
Senate Finance Committee members Maria Cantwell (D-WA) and Chuck Grassley (R-IA) have introduced a bill aimed at limiting presidential tariff authorities and boosting congressional oversight of trade policy. The “ Trade Review Act of 2025 ,” introduced on Thursday, would require congressional approval of any new or increased tariffs proposed by the president, excluding trade remedies.
