Senate confirms Raimondo as Commerce secretary

The Senate voted on Tuesday to confirm Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo (D) as Commerce secretary. The vote was 84-15. Her nomination was approved last month by the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee following a hearing in which she fielded questions about Huawei’s position on the department’s Entity List, as well as Section 232 tariffs on steel and aluminum and other trade issues.
