White House suspends tariffs on several countries until May, floats quota option

President Trump on Thursday confirmed the suspension of Section 232 tariffs for a group of countries until May 1, while negotiations about permanent exclusions continue, and said the U.S. would consider the imposition of quotas “as appropriate.” The president, in March 22 proclamations , confirmed a period of immunity for Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, all member countries of the European Union, and South Korea.
