Trump directs USTR to 'consider all available options' on contested Chinese IP practices

President Trump today issued an order to consider a Section 301 investigation into China's intellectual property practices, a move welcomed by many in industry and on Capitol Hill -- although some Democrats blasted the administration for not going far enough to counter Chinese forced technology transfers. Speaking at the White House before signing an executive memorandum directing U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer to consider the probe, Trump ordered USTR to “consider all available options,” calling the action “just the beginning.”...
