WTO panels reject U.S. national security claims for Section 232 tariffs
Four World Trade Organization dispute panel rulings say U.S. tariffs on steel and aluminum do not qualify for the national security exception and violate WTO rules, handing the Biden administration a notable loss on a trade approach it continued from its predecessor. The rulings , released on Friday after an unusually long four years of waiting, address cases brought by China, Turkey, Norway and Switzerland.
