Ways & Means trade panel chair wants Congress to ‘codify’ Trump trade deals

Congress must “codify” President Trump’s trade agreements to ensure foreign commitments last beyond his presidency, according to House Ways & Means trade subcommittee Chair Adrian Smith (R-NE). “Only through statute can we truly secure long-term, enforceable commitments from our trade partners and ensure trade progress persists beyond 2028,” he said in an Oct. 31 post on his website.
