U.S. seeks to cut essential medicines from GPA-covered products at WTO

The U.S. notified the World Trade Organization last week that it intends to remove certain essential medicines and “critical inputs” from coverage under the Government Procurement Agreement in accordance with an August executive order mandating that such products be made in the U.S. The Trump administration has been critical of the U.S. obligations under GPA and has reportedly mulled pulling out of the agreement. Government procurement also is a bipartisan concern in the U.S., with many lawmakers on both sides...
