U.S. appeals WTO ruling on China tariffs; EU authorized to impose tariffs

The U.S. on Monday appealed a World Trade Organization ruling that said its Section 301 tariffs on China violated international trade rules, arguing the report contained factual errors and represented a “missed opportunity” for the WTO to address unfair trade practices by Beijing. The appeal will not be settled until the Appellate Body, which the U.S. has paralyzed with an ongoing block on filling vacancies, is functional.
