Turkey hits U.S. with higher tariffs; escalating tensions could fuel 232 legislation

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan raised tariffs on U.S.-made goods on Wednesday after President Trump announced via tweet last week he was doubling Section 232 tariffs on Turkish steel. Turkey said it would increase tariffs by 120 percent on autos, 140 percent on alcohol and 50 percent on rice among others, according to Turkish reports .
