Trump decides against Section 232 titanium sponge duties, forms working group

President Trump this week decided not to impose Section 232 duties on titanium sponge imports despite the Commerce Department’s determination that they threaten national security. Instead, Trump ordered the formation of a working group to continue discussions with Japan, the top supplier of titanium sponge. While the Commerce Department “concluded that if the remaining facility ceases operation, the United States will have no active domestic capacity to produce titanium sponge for national defense and critical infrastructure needs,” the agency said...
