Manufacturers: Raise tariffs on Chinese autos, update USMCA to preserve U.S. industry

The U.S. auto industry faces an “extinction-level” threat from Chinese manufacturers, a major U.S. manufacturing group says in a new report, calling for higher tariffs and tighter U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement rules-of-origin requirements to avoid the sector’s collapse.
