Investment firm billionaire Howard Lutnick, a strong supporter of President-elect Trump’s broad tariff plans, has been asked to lead the Commerce Department, the transition team announced on Tuesday. Lutnick, chairman and CEO of investment firm Cantor Fitzgerald, co-chairs the transition team. He reportedly was in the running for Treasury secretary before being chosen for Commerce.
