Lankford proposes bill to strip China’s PNTR if it invades Taiwan
Sen. James Lankford (R-OK) has introduced legislation setting out a policy for suspending permanent normal trade relations with China if the country invades Taiwan. The “ Deterring Escalation Through Economic Retaliation Act ,” introduced on Monday, sets out conditions for revoking PNTR “in an effort to deter conflict in the Taiwan Strait,” according to a statement issued by Lankford’s office.
