Industry group urges admin to address ‘fraudulent’ citric acid trade

Foreign suppliers of citric acid from China and elsewhere are mislabeling their products to evade U.S. trade measures, according to a major industry group that is calling on top Biden administration officials to “immediately address” what it says is a rising trend of illicit activity. The Alliance for Chemical Distribution raised concerns about “fraudulent trade activity for certain chemical products,” particularly citric acid, in Aug. 9 letters to U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai, Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, acting U.S. Customs...
