Hatch, U.S. rights holders back exclusion of 'fair use' reference in NAFTA

Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-UT) and a newly formed coalition that includes major U.S. rights holder groups are backing the exclusion of a reference to the U.S. “fair use” copyright system -- which was included in the Trans-Pacific Partnership -- from a modernized NAFTA. “Fair use” refers to exceptions in U.S. copyright law that balance the rights of users and rights holders.
