EU seeks talks with U.S. at WTO on steel, aluminum ‘safeguard’ measures

The European Union has asked to hold consultations with the U.S. at the World Trade Organization about Washington’s steel and aluminum tariffs that went into effect on Wednesday, which the bloc is arguing should be considered safeguard measures and treated as such at the WTO. The EU requested consultations with the U.S. on Wednesday through the WTO Committee on Safeguards.
