Energy Department issues first LNG export permit after Biden’s pause is overturned
The U.S. Energy Department has issued its first export permit for a liquefied natural gas project serving countries without a U.S. free trade agreement since the Biden administration paused approvals in January. The department authorized New Fortress Energy to export up to 1.4 million tons annually to non-FTA countries from its offshore facility near Altamira, Mexico, according to its Aug. 31 order .
