Commerce forging first emerging tech export control as Congress grows impatient
The Commerce Department is advancing its first export control on an “emerging technology,” a key piece of the implementation of the 2018 Export Control Reform Act that Congress has been eagerly awaiting. Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security and the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs last week published a notice saying Commerce will propose an export control on "Gate-All-Around Field Effect Transistor Technology," which is used to manufacture semiconductors at the three-nanometer level.
