Citing digital tax, USTR proposes tariffs on $2.4 billion in French goods

The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative on Monday proposed imposing 100 percent tariffs on $2.4 billion worth of French goods in retaliation for France’s digital services tax, which the Trump administration says discriminates against U.S. companies. The tariff proposal was made in a draft Federal Register notice that was issued in conjunction with a report detailing USTR’s findings from its Section 301 investigation into the tax, which began earlier this year.
