China: U.S. proposal merely ‘scene-setting’ for desired subsidy rules

China on Tuesday accused the U.S. at the World Trade Organization General Council meeting of using its non-market economy proposal as “quite an obvious ‘scene-setting’” for its true desire -- new disciplines on subsidies, which China argued would not be supported by members. The U.S. countered that its draft decision , which it proposed last month, was both “obvious” and “a necessary step on the path to progress,” according to a copy of Ambassador Dennis Shea’s remarks at Tuesday’s meeting...
