Business groups urge USTR to use non-tariff remedies to address French digital tax

The outcome of the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative’s Section 301 investigation into France’s digital services tax should be a non-tariff remedy established by the World Trade Organization or other multilateral channels, a host of business groups argued this week. Rufus Yerxa, the president of the National Foreign Trade Council, said the Section 301 probe ideally should “lead to constructive consultations between the United States and France and to a settlement agreement whereby France agreed to remove the measure.”...
