Brady Hopes Congress Will Consider Fast-Track For TPP, Other Trade Initiatives

Ways and Means trade subcommittee Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX) said yesterday (Dec. 13) he agrees with U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk that the administration needs trade promotion authority (TPA) for the eventual Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) deal, and that he hopes Congress will consider such legislation next year. “If TPP [is] being completed as quickly as possible, we should be prepared to consider it in Congress as soon as it is done and that requires TPA,” he said in a speech...
