Labor Dept. Accepts Petition Alleging Colombia Labor Violations Under FTA

The U.S. Department of Labor has accepted a petition filed by Colombian labor unions and the AFL-CIO accusing the Colombian government of failing to abide by the labor provisions of its free trade agreement with the United States. The Labor Department's Office of Trade and Labor Affairs accepted the case on July 15, triggering a 180-day deadline to complete an investigation into the alleged labor violations.
