U.S. Warns EU Pesticide Proposal May Thwart Regulatory Cooperation

The United States government has warned the European Commission that it risks endangering regulatory cooperation efforts being pursued under U.S.-EU free trade talks if it proceeds with a blanket ban on pesticide products that show signs of interfering with human hormones without assessing the risk from exposure. In public comments submitted to the commission last month, the U.S. issued a stern warning that pursuing this more restrictive approach toward regulating pesticides with "endocrine-disrupting" properties would run counter to the goals...
